Quilted Rugs

A designer contacted Hratch with the idea of creating rugs from fragments of antique carpets.  To preserve the good parts of old rugs, she wanted to discard the areas of rugs that were torn or exposed to high traffic and past the point of restoration. She was not sure of the process—what type of stitches to use, what type of backing to use, what parts of the patterns to use or the process.

In response to this request, Ko ‘Z’ Craft produced a series of these quilted rugs—in different color schemes and sizes–in his Southern California workshop.  See the striking final results below.
